Tribal Tattoo Stencils

Tribal tattoo stencils are simply line drawings of the outline and other important parts of any tattoo design, it is basically a blue print of the tattoo image.

Your artist will either trace the line work of the tattoo onto carbon paper by hand or with a machine called a thermofax.
This image will then be transferred to your body in the position you have chosen by applying a light coating of a soapy fluid and pressing the carbon copy onto your skin, leaving a blue map of your intended artwork ready for your artist to follow.

This presents you with a good opportunity to view the position and size and ask for alterations if not totally happy.
The tattooist will then follow the stencils lines, usually with black ink, before applying any colour.

If you are taking your own design into the studio it is advisable to take a stencil you have traced as it can be time consuming task for studio staff and you may be charged for this.
